As a product manufacturer, you have an obligation to conduct a risk assessment and document the findings. The aim of the legislation is to ensure that only safe products reach the market.
Key directives relating to product marketing and product monitoring in the EU were revised in the recent past including:
- Low-voltage Directive (Directive 2006/95)
- EMC Directive (EMC, Directive 2004/108)
- Measuring Instruments Directive (Directive 2004/22
- ATEX Directive (Directive 94/9)
These directives stipulate that technical documents have to include an appropriate risk analysis and risk assessment – at latest by 20 April 2016.
